THQ unveiled its entry in the fitness game market at this year's E3 trade show. The publisher partnered up with NBC to create a title based on the hit TV show The Biggest Loser. The release date is set for the autumn of this year and THQ is really pulling all the stops to make the game competitive with titles like Wii Fit and EA Sports Active.

Randy Shoemaker, who is the vice president of global brand management at THQ, stated that “NBC’s The Biggest Loser show has transformed so many lives across the globe. The Biggest Loser video game will help Nintendo players everywhere achieve that same success at home. The video game offers fun, innovative work-out routines and functions as a complete, personalized health and fitness experience, giving players the tools they need to change their bodies and change their lives.”

THQ is planning to include the host of the show, Alison Sweeney, in the upcoming game, with expert trainers like Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels being the ones who will provide advice to players on how to lose those extra kilos.

The Biggest Loser videogame will take place entirely on the ranch with the same name and there will be training programs offered for 4,8 and even 12 weeks. There is an option to face off against real persons who have been part of the television show but gamers can also choose to play with a friend to add a competitive edge to the slim down programs.

The Biggest Loser game offers quite a wide range of possible activities, from upper and lower body exercise routines to yoga and cardio exercises. It also delivers players 50 recipes that promote healthier living and a detailed guide to how to keep your weight down. It’s almost like THQ is selling a diet program rather than a videogame.
