Verizon has finally launched the Samsung U740. Ever since it was presented at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas it was widely known that the handset would be heading over to Verizon, since it sported the Verizon brand stamped on the front side.

One of the main points of interest when talking about the U740 is its innovative design. The dual-pivot handset can be used in both landscape mode, for texting and other data functions or as a standard clamshell phone. Also targeting music enthusiasts among other types of users, it comes with music dedicated touch-sensitive controls.

While the QWERTY keyboard and the classier look might make you think that the U740 is more of a smartphone, this is really not the case and the full keyboard has been included in order to provide users with a better messaging experience.

Samsung U740 sports a 1.3 megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, Bluetooth with A2DP support for wireless music listening, EV-DO and support for Verizon's V CAST service.

The phone is also equipped with a MicroSD card slot ensuring that the user always has enough storage space for various files. Despite its featuring a QWERTY keyboard, the mobile phone manages to be quite thin, proving all over again that Samsung could slim down any type of device.

It measures 3.84" x 2.04" x 0.58" , weighs 3.6 ounces and will last up to 210 minutes of talk time or up to 200 hours on standby. Now available on Verizon wireless, the dual-pivot Samsung U740 comes in a unique black and champagne color scheme for $150 with a two-year contract after rebate.
