South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is expected to come to the market with dual-core handsets and tablet PCs at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month, the company unveiled at the CES show in Las Vegas last week.

At CES, Samsung brought to the spotlight a nice range of new devices, most of which included support for 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) connectivity, including a new smartphone, a tablet PC and wireless modems for mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless.

However, the company is set to bring more highly-appealing devices to the said event in February, JK Shin, president of Samsung's mobile business, confirmed at CES, a recent article on PCMag reads.

“We will continue to keep our technology leadership this year. In terms of dual-core applications, we already have a program, and next month at Mobile World Congress we will unveil it,” Shin said.

However, these are not the only devices that would make an appearance at the said event, Shin said, pointing at more Windows Phone 7 devices, possibly with 4G LTE. “We will continue to keep the partnership with Microsoft,” Shin stated.

“In February at MWC, we will unveil our next-generation tablet device portfolio in detail,” he also noted, adding that Samsung is “in a position to supply 4G smartphones and tablets to all the carriers in the US.”

Basically, this means that the company is looking forward to bring to the market both 3G and 4G tablets and smartphones, offering LTE and WiMAX connectivity options alike (Samsung believes that these standards would co-exist at least for several years).

Tablet PCs are becoming increasingly populars, and Samsung is among those companies that would place a bet on this market segment too during the ongoing year.

It should also be noted that many handset vendors already announced the availability of dual-core phones and tablets at CES, and that many others are expected to make the move in the not too far future.
