The Witcher 2 patch 1.1 is now officially available for download, as the developer of the role-playing game, CD Projekt Red, have finally released it to the world.

The Witcher 2 was launched last week, gaining a huge amount of praise from both reviewers and regular players for its deep role playing mechanics, gorgeous graphics and lots of choices in terms of story.

The game wasn't without faults, however, and CD Projekt announced at the beginning of the week that the first patch, 1.1, was being prepared for it.

The update was intended to go live yesterday evening, but the Polish studio revealed that problems with its servers prevented the patch from being available for download right then.

"The good news is that the patch is ready. The bad news is that we have encountered some problems with the server infrastructure, making downloading DLCs impossible," the studio said.

Now, it seems that the patch is available for download, even if the official announcement has yet to appear.

According to the members of the Guru3D forums, the patch for the international retail version of The Witcher 2, as well as the one downloaded from the Good Old Games website, is now available.

Among the problems that will be fixed by this first patch are things like issues with downloading the Troll Trouble DLC or when trying to activate or authenticate the game, glitches in terms of gameplay as well as problems with certain quests.

Check out some of the most important changes in The Witcher 2 patch 1.1 below.

1. The process of installing and activating the game is now easier and more stable. SECUROM copy protection has been removed entirely, making the game DRM free! 2. The “Troll Trouble” DLC package is included in the patch, bringing to an end any and all problems related to downloading this content. 3. Problems related to downloading other free DLC have also been resolved. The game launcher now correctly detects and updates specific modules. 4. Game efficiency has been improved. Game now runs 5-30% more efficiently and game loading has been accelerated. Efficiency increases will vary depending on system configuration and game version. Owners of boxed versions of The Witcher 2 are likely to notice the greatest improvements. 5. Bugs causing the game to crash, especially while saving game progress or loading saved games, have been corrected. 6. Movement key mapping has been expanded to include cursor (arrow) and number pad keys. 7. Options have been added for inverting the X and Y axes of the mouse. 8.
