Blizzard, the company behind many popular franchises like StarCraft or World of Warcraft, still isn't ready to commit to a concrete release date of its next big project, the Diablo III role-playing game.

Blizzard took part, alongside its Activision sister company, in an investor's call yesterday, and was asked just when its new game was going to arrive.

The company once again was shy to commit to any release date, saying that it doesn't want to "disappoint" eager fans.

Even if it means keeping them out of the loop, the company doesn't want to deliver fans a low-quality title. That "we would never do," said Blizzard.

Despite not releasing any type of launch schedule, the company said that "the game's coming along very well," and that it's "very happy with the development process."

A beta stage for Diablo III is still going to be held, but, to the surprise of no one, that too hasn't receive a concrete release date.

After Blizzard receives data from that beta testing, depending on how many changes it needs to do, it will then be ready to announce a release date for Diablo III.

If the company won't release Diablo III this year, 2012 will have a minimum of two games from the company, at least according to Activision Chief Operating Officer Thomas Tippl.

"Because Blizzard Entertainment has not yet confirmed the launch date for its next global release, our outlook at this time does not include a new game from Blizzard in 2011,” said Tippl. "Should we not release a major title from Blizzard this year, we would expect for planning purposes to launch a minimum of two Blizzard titles in 2012."

One of the games will be Diablo III while the other will, most likely, be the second installment in the StarCraft II trilogy, Heart of the Swarm, which follows last year's Wings of Liberty.

All in all, it seems that Blizzard is once again taking its time to really polish up its new release, and won't make any concrete announcement until the time is just right.
