THQ and Vigil are confident that more time will allow them to make a better game

We heard earlier today that Darksiders II won't make its initial June release, as it's been delayed until August to ensure a quality experience. THQ and Vigil have now talked a bit more about the delay and how it will benefit the final product.

The original Darksiders delivered a great hack and slash experience and its upcoming sequel promises even more adventures, this time starring a whole new protagonist, in the form of Death.

Sadly, while the game looked very good from what we saw up until now, in the midst of financial problems for THQ, a rumor appeared concerning a possible delay of the upcoming game.

Now, THQ and Vigil Games have confirmed that Darksiders II has been pushed back and is now scheduled for release sometime in August.

“Darksiders II will be moving to release globally in August 2012, rather than June as previously announced. It’s just a short delay, but we promise the game you’ll have in August will be well worth the wait,” THQ said.

The main reason for this delay is the fact that the studio wants more time to polish the huge amount of content present in the hack and slash game.

“This is great news for the team at Vigil, because it allows additional time for polish and to ensure that all aspects of Darksiders II meet the high-quality bar the team is targeting. In game development, more time is always a good thing for quality and the Vigil team is dedicated to providing the definitive Darksiders experience.”

This delay won’t affect the Limited Edition DLC pre-order incentive, as both THQ and Vigil say that after the game is thoroughly polished, they’ll begin working on the DLC for it, based on the content that was dropped from the final version of Darksiders II.

"As we approached the game’s completion date, the team asked for more time to polish the huge amount of content included in this ambitious project. We are all committed to making Darksiders II the highest-quality game possible and the additional time will allow the team to do just that. The game content remains unchanged, as do our future DLC plans."

Expect a more concrete release date for the game later this year.
