Video game publisher THQ and developer Vigil Games have announced that their upcoming Darksiders II has been delayed to August from its previous June launch slot with the extra time used by the development team to make sure that the entire experience achieves the quality levels players expect.

Darksiders II was set to launch on June 26 on the United States market and three days later in Europe on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the PC.

THQ has not said exactly when the game launches during August and the month was probably chosen because it allows Darksiders II to arrive before the big launches of the fall, which include Halo 4, a new Call of Duty title and an expansion for World of Warcraft.

The official announcement from Vigil Games states,”The date was shifted to ensure we meet the high quality threshold that we are committed to achieving. It has nothing to do with any other platform releases.”

Darksiders II is one of the first titles that received a confirmed version for the new Nintendo Wii U home console.

The new platform will be launched on all major markets, but Nintendo is probably waiting until E3 in order to announce exact launch dates.

Danny Bilson, who leads the core games division at THQ, recently said that the development team at Vigil Games had all the time they needed to ensure the quality of Darksiders II because his company put the experience of fans first.

The new game will star Death, who explores a number of strange worlds while War is dealing with the situation on Earth.

The development team has promised the fan base better combat, more spectacular loot drops and more dungeons to explore.

They also recently said that they cut about 20 percent of the potential content for the game because of quality concerns.
