As much as you struggled to get a PS3 you will need some extra upgrades in order to run the console at full capacity. If you didn't already know, I must inform you that the PS3 requires some fine tunning for it to run PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games.

According to CNN, Sony will develop a "cure" for this problems soon, as Kaz Hirau, president and chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment America revealed that more than 8,000 PlayStation 2 games will have PS3 support. Sony will develop a firmware upgrade which will fix any issues that gamers encountered on trying to play PS2 games on PS3s.

By now, some 200 PS2 games were reported to be in conflict with the PS3 hardware, and according to a Sony spokesperson, these software conflicts are due mainly to audio glitches and controller issues. Some buttons on the PlayStation controller may not cause the same effect as their PS3 counterparts.

Nintendo officials also promised that the Wii will have GameCube compatibility, but we'll have to wait and see if any problems in this regard arise. If no one reports GameCube titles glitches, I guess is safe to say that Nintendo has won the first battle in the next-gen consoles war.
