All anti-scamming efforts in vain

There have been some swindlers that have tried to make money of gullible persons who wanted to won a PS3 by any means possible. Some have taken action against them, like eBay when they canceled the pre-orders, some have not.

Finally, the game consoles' producer has decided to react on this issue. The company that manufactures the PS3s, Sony, has issued a statement warning websites that are trying to take advantage of PlayStation 3 pre-orders. The warning is directed at websites that have posted PS3s on sale but do not have any kind of contract with Sony Computer Entertainment or with any of the companies affiliated to it.

Sony points the finger at these "illegal" pre-orders and recommends consumers not to pursue such offers, as they are not responsible for their legitimacy. They also recommend that they purchase Sony products from Sony authorized retailers.

As the PlayStation 3 launch is getting closer and closer, Sony is trying to prevent anyone from getting cheated. The PS3 is set to be released on November 11 in Japan, November 17 in Canada and US and March 2007 in Europe. Until then, pre-orders continue.
