A month ago it was 'under discussion.' Now it's a certainty

In an article I wrote last month, we talked about Wired's Chris Kohler bringing to the world a very interesting piece of news, through his GameLife gaming blog: Final Fantasy XIII wasn't a PS3 exclusive anymore. Kohler said that in an interview with French news site DNA, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe vice president stated that Final Fantasy XIII's exclusivity to PlayStation3 was under discussion: "Finally, for Final Fantasy XIII, I can tell you that exclusivity is being discussed."

Currently, the PlayStation3 supports 2 FF XIII titles but that's not enough for Square Enix. As PS3Center.net says, Motomu Toriyama of Square Enix has made the news official: FF XIII is going multiplatform, given that a game's appearance on two consoles isn't enough to be called a multiplatform title. So this means we'll be seeing FF XIII on the Xbox 36, right? Not exactly, although it would make perfect sense, Square Enix Might just stick with Nintendo's DS, which has seen a few Final Fantasy titles and why not a PSP port while they're at it.

Now, don't be confused, Final Fantasy titles have been hitting the DS several times, they have gone mobile and there is one FF title in the works for the PSP as well, but this is FF XIII we're talking about here. Even though it hasn't been confirmed, FF XIII is most likely to hit both the 360 and the Wii. The game has over 20 different titles launched so far, it made the gaming world go crazy right from the first installment and it should deserve a next-gen continuance.
