This year's looking more and more like old arcade games are making a comeback. Whether it is because game developers are running out of ideas, or that there really is demand for the classics, we can't say; but here's another old arcade shooter, which is going to be available for download this fall, via Sony's PlayStation Network and Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade, as Capcom announced.

Rocketmen: Axis of Evil is an arcade shooter in which players will join the heroes of the Alliance of Free Planets in their white-knuckled, frenzied struggle to free the Solar System from the tyrannical grip of the Legion of Terra. Four players will be able to play in cooperative mode, powering up their weapons, picking up bonuses and laying waste to anything that moves. Here's the full fact sheet on Rocketmen: Axis of Evil, as presented in the press release:

■ Fast-paced arcade action ■ 1 - 4 players on or offline ■ Online multiplayer gameplay through a variety of mini games that let players instantly jump into existing games ■ Design and build your own character for both single and multi-player games, each with their own unique skills and look: - Male or female - Three races - Human, Mercurian or Venusian - Three classes - Fighter, Engineer, Outcast ■ Further character customization options through new items and abilities earned by progressing through a variety of quests ■ Multiple hours of gameplay with plenty of levels, hordes of enemies, huge bosses and engaging story for maximum replay value ■ Beautiful cartoon-like art style brings life to the characters and environments ■ Competitive online ranking system ■ High definition (HD) 1080i graphics

In an Attempt to expand their initiative with downloadable games, Capcom is also making available Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Super Puzzle FighterTM II HD Remix and Talisman Make Up. Oh, and remember that Metal Slug Anthologies has already been made available for the PS2 system, featuring all six titles of the series on one disc.
