The Street Fighter franchise is one of the most popular fighting series of games out there, with a large number of fans around the world. The wide range of characters from almost every territory of the globe has garnished a cult-like following and with the upcoming release of Street Fighter IV, the first completely 3D title in the history of the franchise, things can’t go but great.

But a lot of people are also expecting the HD revamp of the classic Street Fighter II title, which was one of the most popular ones in the whole series. Entitled Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, the game is a new version of the original one, with high quality character sprites and new multiplayer modes. Although its launch date was highly speculated, because Capcom, the developer of the game, refrained from giving any details in this regard, only saying that it would be available on the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in the Fall season, every Street Fighter fan eagerly awaited any news from the Japanese company.

Christian Svensson, an executive for Capcom, recently spoke with VideoGamer about the launch of Street Fighter II HD and went on saying that the game was finished and awaiting approval from Microsoft and Sony respectively. He further stated that November was the target month for the launch of the title, but because of the different requirements, gamers might not get a simultaneous release.

"November is indeed the target month. It's a good month for giving "thanks" for all things Street Fighter. It's a month where hopefully the last of the big retail releases finish up and a clean window for digital begins again. We're certainly hoping we don't miss our date... It is possible for us to bounce the submission on one and not the other which would cause the release to potentially not be simultaneous and still be released in November on one of the two."

So gamers definitely need to keep their fingers crossed for the title, as a simultaneous launch on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 is a pretty hard thing to accomplish in terms of arcade titles. Let's just hope that we will be able to play the game before the beginning of December.
