You have a chance to replace the watermarked Wii cover

We reported on Monday that Capcom's Okami cover has an IGN watermark on and it seems that Capcom found out about the thing, too and they are ready to turn things the other way around. While we were expecting future Okami products to be delivered with a new cover, without watermarks this time, Capcom has other plans: they are offering three new covers for you to choose one from and they're going to ship it to your home, cost free.

The three new covers, including the original one, without the watermark, can be seen here and if you wish to get one of them from Capcom, you only have to fill out the form here. However, don't bother checking them up if your not from North America, since the offer does not apply. Also, the offer is valid for only a limited period of time, which means that you should hurry if you want to be sure you'll get yours. So we could say that it's kind of half the problem solved.

Here are excerpts from the official Capcom blog regarding the matter: "I can honestly say that my worst day at Capcom was this Monday. After releasing Okami for the Wii last week to some great reviews (Metacritic Average: 88), one of our Okami diehard fans discovered that the folks who work here at Capcom are, in fact, human and can make mistakes.

I'm speaking of the watermark that appeared on the cover of Okami. It's sadly one of those things that's hard to spot if you don't know what your looking for, but the moment you see it, it becomes obvious and stares you in the face."

So, this is it, the official word: it was a human-mistake and these things happen. We doubt things like this happened before, but it doesn't really matter now. Everybody can get a new cover and continue playing. This hasn't and will not affect the game whatsoever, so thumbs up for Okami for trying to right the wrongs!
