Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be officially revealed to the world in April, at least according to a new report that cites inside sources.

A huge part of Call of Duty fans are eagerly awaiting any sort of news about the next title in the first-person shooter franchise, but, up until now, we've had to deal only with vague statements and rumors.

Now, UK magazine PSM3, via CVG, reports that the official announcement of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set to appear at the middle of next month.

Rumors uncovered by the magazine say that a mid-April reveal is currently planned by its publisher, Activision.

The last Call of Duty title, 2010's Black Ops, was also revealed in April, albeit at the end of it, on April 30, so Modern Warfare 3 may follow the same path.

What's more, the magazine confirms rumors that appeared earlier this year, saying that it would have some sections concerning Ghost, a character from the second game which quickly developed a large fan base.

Earlier rumors said that the new game would share some of Ghost's adventures, which take place at the same time as the first two Modern Warfare games, and might explain some of the more mysterious events in those titles.

The main story of Modern Warfare 3, however, will pick up right at the end of Modern Warfare 2, with Soap and Price on the run, after being set up by General Shepherd, so expect the Call of Duty spin-off series to continue its narrative.

The game will be developed by Infinity Ward, but, considering the recent shakeups in its management after the departure of its founders, other studios, including Raven Software or Sledgehammer Games, might also play a part in the creation of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

This is still just a rumor, though, so don't get your hopes too high about an upcoming announcement until we hear it straight from Activision itself.
