Samsung recently announced that the company was aiming to become one of the market leaders on the mirrorless segment until 2015, but it seems that the compact/bridge segment was not forgotten.

With lots of interesting news at this year's International CES show in Las Vegas, besides the already announced NX30 and Galaxy Camera 2, Samsung has also revealed a few new compact and bridge cameras.

One of them is the WB2200F, a 60x superzoom camera that comes with a dual-grip design. The camera is equipped with a 16.3 backside-illuminated CMOS image sensor with a high ISO sensitivity of up to ISO6,400 capable of producing high-quality images even in low-light conditions.

The WB2200F comes with a 20-1200mm (35mm equivalent) f/2.8-5.9 60x superzoom lens that can now fit even more into the frame thanks to its 20mm focal length on the wide angle side. Moreover, the camera is capable of capturing 1080p Full HD video footage at 30 frames per second, which can then be watched on the generous 75mm / 3-inch hVGA (usually 460k-dot) LCD monitor.

The dual-grip design offers enhanced operability, making it easier to take landscape and portrait style photos. Full manual control can also be easily accessed through the touch of a button, using the i-Function control.

With the smartphone market on the rise, connectivity has become a must in today's digital cameras, and it seems manufacturers have already taken this into consideration, as most of the cameras announced at CES feature Wi-Fi and NFC support.

This is also the case of Samsung WB2200F that comes with a new Tag & Go feature, which seamlessly connects the camera with compatible smart devices by simply touching the two devices together.

Besides that, the camera features an electronic viewfinder (EVF) and comes with a long battery life, although no further information has been given on the matter. Pricing and availability are yet to be announced.
