Remember Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley on NES?

Now that Resident Evil for Wii has been made official, speculations started to arise but one seems to stand taller than the rest, and it's connected to the fact that Resident Evil 4 will be a first-person perspective game: a first-person typical controller. That's right boys and girls (well, mostly boys): the Resident Evil version of the NES Zapper. In fact, this one will be the Resident Evil "Blaster," if it turns out to be true, as shown on the Gamestop ad. No picture of the blaster itself is shown, but a $19.99 price tag and a May 1st 2007 shipping date are.

It's true that nobody complained of Resident Evil played with a joystick on PlayStation2, but really now, a gun is far more practical - you can actually aim and shoot the zombie bastards. And since it's Resident Evil 4 for Wii we're talking here, the game couldn't have not used a gun, eventually. Am I getting to you yet? Besides, as Joystiq hints, the former last clue of the Blaster's appearance was at an E3 display, holding a "work in progress sign." We also thank them for the photo.

The Wii port of Resident Evil 4 was confirmed in the latest issue of Famitsu. The site said that players would use the Wiimote for aiming, shooting and stabbing. Not anymore I guess. The "Separate Ways" sub-scenario previously exclusive to the PlayStation 2 version, is most likely to be true however. According to an interview with producer Masachika Kawata (PS2 port) and director Minoru Nakai (Deadly Silence), Resident Evil 4 for Wii will have Amateur and Easy difficulties set by default.

Now, again, the blaster is listed at Gamestop with both release date and price tag, but there's no official word on whether Resident Evil 4 Wii is to use the blaster. Maybe a Hogan's Alley for Wii is to be announced. Oh, and remember, Resident Evil 4 for Wii is said to come with a trailer for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles "on rails shooter."
