Today, mobile phone carrier AT&T announced the launch of two new handsets from Research In Motion, namely the BlackBerry Curve 3G and the BlackBerry Pearl 3G.

The new handsets come to the wireless carrier with a wide range of connectivity options, including a series of applications such as Facebook and BBM (BlackBerry Messenger), as well as with BlackBerry App World with carrier billing.

On top of that, the new handsets sport Wi-Fi connectivity, and qualifying AT&T customers benefit from access to the carrier's national Wi-Fi network as part of their monthly data plan.

“AT&T continues to expand our offering of BlackBerry smartphones, including the recently launched BlackBerry Torch, to suit the various needs of our customers,” said Michael Woodward, vice president, Mobile Phone Portfolio, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.

“As the first U.S. carrier to offer BlackBerry service, we are pleased to add the BlackBerry Pearl 3G and BlackBerry Curve 3G to our portfolio, which deliver style without compromising features or functionality.”

The BlackBerry Curve 3G comes with a full QWERTY keyboard and optical trackpad, as well as with built-in GPS, dedicated media keys, and a photo snapper with video recording capabilities.

Other specs of the new device include microSD/SDHC slot with support for up to 32 GB of additional storage space, as well as 3G support with fast access to web, instant messaging, or social networking sites.

In addition, the wireless carrier announced that it plans on offering the popular AT&T U-verse Mobile app to all of its BlackBerry Curve 9300 owners who are AT&T U-verse TV customers, enabling them to manage their DVR recordings, download hit TV shows over any Wi-Fi connection, and more.

The BlackBerry Pearl 3G is the smallest BlackBerry smartphone to date, and comes with a powerful and compact design.

The specs list of this handset includes Wi-Fi (b/g/n) and GPS, a 3.2 MP camera with flash, optical trackpad for smooth navigation, support for up to 32 GB of additional storage space, and others more.

“These new 3G models offer faster performance and a very attractive mix of features and services for AT&T customers,” Carlo Chiarello, vice president, Global Handset Business, Research In Motion, commented.

“The BlackBerry Curve and BlackBerry Pearl series of smartphones have become extremely popular around the world by giving customers all the powerful BlackBerry communications, media and social networking capabilities they expect, in compact, stylish and easy-to-use handset designs.”

The new BlackBerry Curve 3G (model 9300) will be available at AT&T in time for the holidays, featuring a price tag of $99.99 (no rebate required).

BlackBerry Pearl 3G will arrive at the wireless carrier with a price tag of $149.99 (no rebate required) attached to it on October 17, via all retail channels.
