Video game developer BioWare has announced the launch of two competitions linked to its most recent release, Mass Effect 3, with some pretty impressive prizes for those who are interested in taking part.

The first one is linked to Raptr, the game-tracking service, and is called N7 Nights, tasking gamers with playing Mass Effect 3 between 7 AM Pacific Standard Time to 11 PM on the days between March 12 and 18.

BioWare will be randomly selecting ten winners during each hour and those interested in the N7 Nights competition need to have the Raptr desktop app installed, be a member of the service and link their console or their Origin account with the service.

The second competition is called Best of the Citadel and requires something more than simply playing Mass Effect 3, as players are challenged to record video of their Mass Effect 3 experience and then post it online for the development team to judge.

The categories announced by BioWare are:

- Best Shepard Moment – designed for player to show what makes your Commander Shepard unique; - Best Multiplayer Move – where gamers can show how they perform in the multiplayer mode of the game; - Best Omnikill – designed to allow gamers to show off their best move with just one enemy; - Best Commentary – again linked to multiplayer, where gamers need to talk about their performance and how they achieved it; - Best Cinematic Re-dub – for those who want to take an already existing trailer and add unique dialog to it.

BioWare has announced that the current prizes include: T-shirts with the Mass Effect 3 logo, the N7 Elite hoody, collectible action figures that also come with DLC codes and custom skinned Xbox 360 consoles.

The developers say that more prizes will be announced when the two competitions end.
