After a number of fans have claimed to offer proof that the From Ashes downloadable content was included on the Mass Effect 3 game disk, publisher Electronic Arts has issued a formal response in which it clarifies how it delivered the new content to players.

A statement issued by Electronic Arts reads: “From Ashes is a 600 MB+ download with all new content, including the mission on Eden Prime, new dialogue options and conversations with Javik, new cinematics, the Prothean weapon, and new appearances for all squad members.

“All of the above content was completed while the main game was in certification and are not available on the disc.”

It adds, “As stated previously, in order to seamlessly integrate Javik into the core campaign, certain framework elements and character models needed to be put on disc. We did something similar with Zaeed and Kasumi in Mass Effect 2.”

From Ashes is available to any player of Mass Effect 3 as long as he is willing to pay 800 BioWare Points in order to get it via Origin, and it allows players to include a new Prothean character in their party and do some specific quests linked to him and his unique heritage.

BioWare has repeatedly said that it has created all the From Ashes content after the core Mass Effect 3 went gold and was sent for certification to the platform holders.

The team chose to create more quests for the player to enjoy rather than simply move on to new projects or to the Star Wars MMO and BioWare says that it has plans to deliver more content for both the single- and the multiplayer of its latest hit.

Mass Effect 3 has managed to sell close to 1 million copies during its first 24 hours on sale and the game has shipped 3.5 million units to retail chains.
