Rockstar might have announced Take Two that the game is ready to ship

The recently announced delay of the Irrational Games-made BioShock Infinite might mean that publisher 2K Games will plug that open spot in its fall launch schedule with the much-awaited Grand Theft Auto V from Rockstar.

The game currently lacks an official launch date, but analysis firm Wedbush Morgan Securities speculates that Rockstar has already informed Take Two that GTA V will be ready before October and then the company decided to give Irrational Games more time to finish its own video game.

An investor note from the company states, “Although we were confident that both games would sell millions of units when it appeared that they would be released in close proximity, we think that the delay will alleviate any wallet-shareconcerns and ensure that both games receive the undivided attention of Take-Two’s management and marketing teams, and will ensure that retail support is optimized.”

Previous GTA titles were linked with October launch dates and the only reason the fourth game in the series was delayed to April 2008 was because of the serious bug in the PlayStation 3 version.

Wedbush Morgan expects to see GTA V sell 18 million copies during its lifetime and says that Take Two might offer an actual launch date when it posts its financial results on May 22 or during the E3 2012 trade show in early June.

BioShock Infinite is now expected on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on February 26 of 2013.

Grand Theft Auto V will take place in Los Santos and Dan Houser, who is one of the leaders of Rockstar, has stated that it is the most ambitious title that the company has ever created.

The game will focus on “the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present-day Southern California” and will give gamers more freedom than ever to explore the world and decide their own destiny.
