The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards were last night and, aside from the touching Michael Jackson tribute led by Janet Jackson and a fierce performance by Beyonce, among the most memorable moments, it also included a very embarrassing segment where Kanye West ashamed himself in front of the cameras. After leaving singer Taylor Swift red faced and speechless, Kanye was escorted out, with Beyonce trying to pick up the pieces in the last moment.

Taylor was presented with the Best Female Video award by Taylor Lautner and Shakira. As we also reported, as she was about to make her speech, Kanye rushed on stage, took the microphone from her hand and told the crowd that Beyonce had “one of the best videos of all time.” That was to say, she should have won, she should have been there and not the young country singer. When Beyonce came up towards the end of the ceremony to scoop up her Moonman for Video of the Year, she made things right again with Taylor.

“Thank you. I remember being 17-years-old, up for my first MTV Award with Destiny’s Child and it was one of the most exciting moments in my life. So I’d like Taylor [Swift] to come out and have her moment.” Beyonce said. Taylor immediately appeared on stage and, by the look on her face, she did not expect this thoughtful gesture from Beyonce, who gave up the couple of minutes she had for her speech to allow her to finish hers. The kind gesture did not go by unnoticed with the online community, of course.

“I’d like to thank all the fans on Twitter and MySpace and everyone who came out to my shows this summer. Thank you so much!” Taylor said at one point during the impromptu speech. As of now, she still has not made any comment regarding Kanye’s interruption, or responded in any way to his half-sincere apology (as it’s been dubbed in the media). Knowing the young singer, she will probably keep her silence until the entire scandal blows over.

Kelly Clarkson, on the other hand, is not as shy as Taylor and, only hours after the ceremony ended, she took to her official blog to give him a piece of her mind in an open letter-type of post, as we also informed you just minutes ago.
