Fans must already know by now that, when it comes to awards, Kanye West can act in ways that suit no one else besides himself, having often expressed his dissatisfaction with the winners in one category or another throughout the years. Last night was no exception, as Kanye jumped on stage to proclaim that the award for Best Female Video should have gone to Beyonce and not Taylor Swift, who was already halfway through her acceptance speech.

19-year-old Taylor was presented with the award by “Twilight” hottie Taylor Lautner and Shakira, having managed to beat competition from the likes of Beyonce, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga and Pink. The young singer was clearly shocked by the announcement that she had won but her amazement became even bigger when Kanye West rushed on the stage, took the microphone from her hand and addressed the crowd by saying that Beyonce should have been the winner.

“Yo Taylor. I’m really happy for you. I’m gonna let you finish but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!” Kanye said. Beyonce was equally shocked, as the camera zoomed in on her and it was clear that she did not know what to make of the rapper’s words. Taylor Swift, on the other hand, was at such a loss for words that MTV had to cut from her just standing there stunned to an overall view of the scene. The booing of the audience was still very loud, though. Kanye West apologized hours later for the outburst in a post on his blog, saying he didn’t mean to ruin Taylor’s moment.

“I’m Sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom. I spoke to her mother right after and she said the same thing my mother would’ve said. She is very talented! I like the lyrics about being a cheerleader and she’s in the bleachers! I’m in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment! Beyonce’s video was the best of this decade!!! I’m sorry to my fans if I let you guys down!!!!! I’m sorry to my friends at MTV. I will apologize to Taylor 2mrw. Welcome to the real world!!!! Everybody wanna booooo me but I’m a fan of real pop culture!!! No disrespect but we watchin’ the show at the cribe right now cause…. Well you know!!!! I’m still happy for Taylor!!!! Boooyaawww!!!! You are very talented!!!!! I gave my awards to Outkast when they deserved it over me… That’s what it is!!!! I’m not crazy yall, I’m just real. Sorry for that!!! I really feel bad for Taylor and I’m sincerely sorry!!! Much Respect!!!!!” Kanye said on his blog all in CAPS.

Clearly, even if he apologized, Kanye still feels that, just like he did, Taylor Swift should have handed her award to Beyonce, because her video was better. Most fans disagree, as also do those who count neither as Beyonce nor Taylor Swift supporters, but who saw the rude interruption and believe that Kanye, by now an experienced artist, should have left the young country singer enjoy the moment she had worked so hard for.
