With the clock ticking on the release of her fourth studio album, Beyonce is giving fans a first taste of what they’re to expect from the material called simply “4,” thanks to the release of the official video for the leading single “Run the World (Girls).”

You can see the video in high quality, embedded at the end of this article.

She teased and she had people guessing – but Beyonce is now truly delivering the goods. The video for “Run the World (Girls)” is colorful, top notch and, most importantly, insanely energetic.

The song was received with mixed reviews by fans and critics alike, but the video definitely makes it better.

Set in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic world, the video sees Beyonce as some sort of leader warrior / Amazonian, just as able to bust incredible moves as she is capable of doing high fashion that even Lady Gaga would envy.

It was directed by Francis Lawrence, whose most recent work was “Water for Elephants” with Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz, and it marks a departure from anything fans have seen from the diva so far, as PopEater so justly notes.

“It’s definitely riskier than something a bit more... simple. I just heard the track and loved that it was so different: it felt a bit African, a bit electronic and futuristic,” Beyonce said earlier this week about the song.

Just as the single is hard to define and fit into a single box, the video is also a mixture of elements and influences, all of which seem to be bound together by Beyonce’s amazing choreography.

“With the end of the world rapidly approaching, at least according to some, Beyonce’s ‘Run the World (Girls)’ comes just in time for the songstress to take charge of a dying planet or, you know, at least save the ever-ailing music industry,” PopEater says.
