After launching a fresh patch yesterday for Battlefield: Bad Company 2, DICE, the studio responsible for the popular first person shooter, has just revealed that the game will receive its newest piece of downloadable content, the Map Pack 7, today.

This new add-on was announced a few weeks ago, and will be free to VIP members on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 consoles, while PC owners will get it completely for free without having to join any club or have any privileges.

In case you didn't notice the original announcement, the VIP Map Pack 7 for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will have four maps, two taken from the original Bad Company, Oasis and Harvest Day, and two new ones, borrowed from the single-player of Bad Company 2, Cold War and Heavy Metal.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 received a fresh patch yesterday, which prepared the game for the release of this new downloadable content, as well as for the launch of a new add-on, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam, which will drop later this month.

The patch fixed a lot of balancing issues encountered by players, as well as some problems with both the single-player and the multiplayer modes for the popular first person shooter.

In honor of the launch of the new map pack, DICE also revealed a trailer with the four new maps, which showcase the unique aspects of each of them, as well as the classic destructive gameplay featured in all Battlefield games.

Expect the maps in this pack to have the same traditional type of action, including vehicle combat, from tanks, to quads or buggies, and many fan-favorite weapons, from assault riffles to shotguns or machine guns.

Will you be taking advantage of this new free DLC or are you waiting for other content to be released for the first person shooter, specifically the Vietnam expansion?
