Motorola has once again updated its Android upgrade plans for the various mobile phones it already pushed on the market and, by the looks of it, it seems that only some of its customers would be lucky enough to get a new OS flavor on their devices, while the rest are left with the same old platform.

What strikes the most is that the long promised Android 2.1 software update for the company's BACKFLIP, CLIQ and CLIQ XT devices has been pushed back to early Q4, and that the owners of these devices in other markets won't receive the solution.

Initially, Motorola promised the release of Android 2.1 for these handsets before the end of the second quarter of the ongoing year, but it seems that it pushed it back a whooping three months, at least when it comes to the US market.

“Upgrade to Android 2.1 - testing in process, planned for late Q3/early Q4,” is what Motorola notes on its support website for these three mobile phones.

As for the users of these devices in other markets (where they go by the name of BACKFLIP, DEXT and QUENCH), they won't be as lucky.

According to Motorola's Android update time table, these phones will “remain on Android 1.5 for the best combined hardware and software experience.”

The Motorola DEVOUR, currently available for purchase in the US via Verizon Wireless, is another device that won't taste another Android flavor than the one loaded on it at launch.

However, other Motorola devices are set to get a new software update in the near future, it seems.

The MILESTONE is one of them, set to get Android 2.2 in Europe in Q4, while being set for an upgrade in Canada, Asia-Pacific (except China) and Latin America in Q1 nest year.

MOTOROI has an “Upgrade to Android 2.2 planned for Q4” in Korea, while MOTOQRTY and MOTOGLAM should start receiving the solution sometime in Q1.

What Motorola did not unveil was when the DROID X by Motorola is set to receive an update to the new Android 2.2 operating system, as the time table (available on the company's website here) still reads “Upgrade to Android 2.2 planned for late summer,” just as several weeks ago.
