Mobile phone maker Motorola and wireless carrier T-Mobile USA went official with the release date of a new Android-based device, the Motorola CHARM. Starting with August 25th, T-Mobile customers interested in trying out a new device that packs both a QWERTY keyboard and a touchscreen display in a candybar form factor.

In addition to confirming that the new smartphone would be released officially next week, Motorola and T-Mobile also unveiled the price tag this device would carry, namely $74.99 on contract.

“On August 25th, the Motorola CHARM hits T-Mobile’s shelves! With a two year service agreement and qualifying voice & data plan, the CHARM is only $74.99,” Motorola announced via Facebook.

The CHARM brings forth a new design to the list of Android-based devices from Motorola, where we've already spotted interesting form factors and features that phones like Backflip, Flipout or Motorola i1 sport.

However, the smartphone still comes with a nice range of capabilities that should make a lot of users happy, especially those who are fond of texting.

“The Motorola CHARM offers the smartphone features you want, plus enhanced MOTOBLUR to keep you updated on the latest happenings in your social life - all in a sleek, slim design,” T-Mobile notes on its website.

The carrier continues: “With a QWERTY keyboard and a touch screen, you get faster, more efficient access to messaging and the Web.”

T-Mobile is not the first carrier in the world to bring the CHARM to its users, as Canadian operator TELUS launched the device a few days ago with a price tag of $29 on 3-year contract attached to it.

For what it's worth, the Motorola CHARM should become a rather appealing Android option for those who are looking for an affordable device, that's for sure.

More info on the device can be found on Motorola's site. T-Mobile already listed the CHARM on its website here with the coming soon tag on it.
