Venice is a sin city

Ubisoft is said to have improved a lot of things for Assassin's Creed 2, from the way the protagonist moves around the city to the way combat works, but it also seems to be interested in pushing against the boundaries of what kind of content is acceptable in videogames.

Game director Benoit Lambert has recently stated that the upcoming videogame will have some mature content, mainly because of the setting of the title, which now moves from the parched Middle East to the city states of Renaissance Italy.

Lambert talked to Videogaming247 and said that main character “Ezio is a womanizer.” Of course, this might serve to add some spice to Assassin's Creed 2 but Ubisoft needs to make sure that there's no backlash against the game.

After all, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas cost Take Two about 20 million dollars in the Hot Coffee scandal as part of a court settlement and the mass media widely attacked BioWare's sci fi role playing game Mass Effect for the way the main characters could develop a romantic interest for one of their companions.

Lambert has answered a lot of questions related to the game, saying that firearms will be in but that they will be highly inaccurate and prone to not working so the title cannot be played as a straight shooter while also confirming that Enzio, the main character, will be able to dual wield a wide variety of weapons he finds and not only his hidden blades.

Assassin's Creed 2 is set to debut on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 from Sony on November 20. A PC version of the game is also planned but it will only be released at some point during the spring of 2010.
