Former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has long gone into crisis mode in a bid to get out of the ongoing divorce / cheating / love child scandal with his reputation as intact as possible. Another step to ensure that is to put his long-expected acting comeback on hold.

A short while ago, Arnold and wife of 25 years Maria Shriver announced they had separated and were taking some time off to see whether they could still save their marriage.

Shortly after, Arnold came out with another statement, saying he’d fathered a child with a woman who had been on the staff at the family house for nearly two decades.

As more details on the illegitimate child and secret mistress continue to emerge in the tabloid media, Arnold, Maria and the lover Patty are keeping mum on the topic – but Arnold is also taking some action, TMZ says.

Before the scandal broke, Schwarzenegger was reportedly in talks to star in as many as 15 different movies in the following couple of years, which would have marked his grand comeback to the industry he left for politics.

He’s now put his comeback on hold.

“Arnold’s office released the statement today – claiming the actor has already asked his agent at CAA to discontinue his current film negotiations for the time being,” the e-zine says.

This also means that Arnold has dropped out of the film “Cry Macho,” for which he was reportedly paid close to $12.5 million, TMZ notes.

“Governor Schwarzenegger is focusing on personal matters and is not willing to commit to any production schedules or timelines,” reads the statement from his management.

TMZ informs in a separate post that Arnold’s animated series “The Governator” also seems to have bit the dust, at least temporarily.

“In light of recent events, A Squared Entertainment, POW, Stan Lee Comics, and Archie Comics, have chosen to not go forward with the Governator project,” says a statement from camp Schwarzenegger.

The statement doesn’t say whether the cheating scandal is to blame for the decision, but, since the Governator was supposed to fight crime with his wife Maria and their 4 children as sidekicks, it most probably was, notes the same media outlet.
