Now that he’s no longer into politics, former Governor of California and action movie superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced that he will return to the thing that made him famous in the first place: the movies.

Speculation about his next move once he was done with the Governor position has been around for months, and Arnold himself dropped a few hints that it might be a comeback to acting.

However, it wasn’t until hours ago that the comeback was made official, when Arnold took to his Twitter to share the good news with fans, PopEater reports.

“Exciting news. My friends at CAA have been asking me for 7 years when they can take offers seriously. Gave them the green light today,” Schwarzenegger tweeted.

While it would be only natural to assume that he might return to tough guy roles, that will probably not be the case, the e-zine reports, citing older interviews with Arnold himself.

“There’s no word yet on which project he’ll take on first, though we received a few clues not too long ago as Schwarzenegger mentioned in an interview how he was already looking at three different projects, one of which was ‘With Wings as Eagles,’ which would find him playing a WWII German soldier who disobeys orders and begins rescuing POWs,” PopEater reports.

Whatever his next project turns out to be, it will most certainly include as few action scenes as possible, a thing Arnold also said a while back, when he was still speaking of his comeback hypothetically.

“Extreme fighting and shooting isn’t possible for me anymore. In the future I’ll need to pick my roles according to my age,” he said.

Last time we saw Schwarzenegger on the big screen was with a brief cameo in pal Sylvester Stallone’s “The Expendables,” in which he played a version of himself.

Now that Stallone has confirmed “Expendables 2” and he’s reportedly looking for new faces to bring on board, perhaps Arnold may get more screen time with it.
