Last week, a new rumor emerged regarding the upcoming production under development by Sylvester Stallone, “The Expendables.” Only hours after word broke about Arnold Schwarzenegger’s alleged involvement in the film, a spokesperson for the Governor refuted it as inaccurate. Now, it’s the Governor himself who is confirming the news for all his fans via a televised interview.

Appearing on George Stephanopoulos’ show, Schwarzenegger made it clear that state business and him doing a cameo for his friend Stallone had nothing to do with each other, and the media was wrong in trying to make it look otherwise. The moment word on Arnold’s special appearance was out on the Internet, the Governor began to get a lot of heat for putting politics on hold to shoot a movie, which, as the star himself says, is completely false.

First and foremost, the cameo is a favor for a friend, therefore he has no plans of going back to acting. Secondly, the part (as himself, as announced earlier) will shoot in one day, so it’s highly unlikely that he cannot be spared for less than 24 hours. So, this should settle the dispute: Arnold Schwarzenegger will make a special appearance in “The Expendables,” that much is for certain right now.

“The production is a month out from shooting, and reportedly according to my source, the script has been beaten into shape by Stallone who has been struggling to nail the right tonal balance of humor, action and emotional reality. So there you have it. Sly and Arnie are both in this film.” Ain’tItCoolNews informed last week. Alongside Arnold, Eric Roberts, Mickey Rourke and Danny Trejo have also been confirmed for a part in the action flick.

“The Expendables,” scheduled for a tentative release in 2010, is written and directed by none other than Stallone himself. Sly will also be starring in it, as one of the mercenaries of a trained group sent to some remote country to overthrow a dictator. So far, the movie has been getting nothing but positive feedback, especially with Schwarzenegger also on board.
