Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has just announced that its HTC Legend devices on the market should start receiving an upgrade to the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system as soon as today. As recent post on HTC UK's Facebook page states that the update roll-out is expected to start today for all devices on the European market.

“Good news for HTC Legend users. The Android 2.2 update for HTC Legend will begin to roll out across Europe from tomorrow. We're looking forward to hearing your feedback,” the said post reads.

For the time being, however, there is still no specific info on whether the software update would be released only for HTC Legend devices sold unlocked, or for those who are sold via wireless carriers as well.

Some of the carrier branded devices already got the Android 2.2 OS, as Vodafone and Orange delivered it to their users in the form of an over the air update.

No exact details on what enhancements users should expect from the new software update were unveiled for the time being.

Even so, we should expect for HTC Legend devices out there to get most of the improvements that other HTC handsets that got updated tasted as well.

When compared to Android 2.1, the Android 2.2 Froyo OS version offers increased speeds, support for Flash Player 10.1, and more.

In addition to making this announcement on Android 2.2 Froyo for Legend, the company also confirmed that the HTC Wildfire should taste the solution in the very near future. Moreover, it announced that the new Android 2.3 OS should arrive on some of its devices too.

“For those wondering about Android 2.3 - we are excited about the OS update coming for Android, and will definitely have some phones running this OS, we do not have a specific timeframe for new phones or updates at this time. Please stay tuned though,” the post reads.
