How satisfied is Vodafone with this service?

The release of Vodafone At Home has been announced for a long time now. The service enables Vodafone clients to transform their mobile phone into a fixed one and place unlimited free local calls.

The service is available for order from Vodafone this time, but only under a trial basis. This doesn't mean that it is free, just that Vodafone has not officially turned it into a permanent service among the other ones they offer to their customers.

Vodafone At Home is a service that enables people to use their mobile phones as fixed lines and make free local calls. The principle behind is quite simple. The existing home phones are plugged into a gateway device that routes all calls to the Vodafone network. It is the same case with PCs, as they can become part of Vodafone's network without conventional support needed.

The company will allocate local or mobile phone numbers for the user's device, making it also possible for them to keep the phone number of their house phone. For this reason, Vodafone had declared that they will officially launch this service starting April, this year, after number portability has been introduced.

This is why debates have been developed on the future of this service. Since April is long gone and Vodafone At Home has not been permanently introduced yet, then the trial period has not managed to convince the company that it will turn out as being profitable. Still, people at Vodafone refrain from making elaborate comments on the results of this trial period. The company's spokesman, Paul Brislen, resumed to only say that it is "proceeding as expected", without any further comments.

Vodafone At Home is available for a monthly subscription of 25 pounds that includes unlimited calls and Internet broadband use. Moreover, the subscribers receive a Netgear ethernet modem, free Norton Internet Security for 6 months, email address and free technical support.
