Quite slim pickings

When developers like Rockstar strive to put out a list of the Achievements you can get in their upcoming DLC for Grand Theft Auto IV shows how important these rewards have become to videogames.

There was a time when players prided themselves on completing the game and, maybe, getting a particular ending. Now, it's all about the Gamerscore and the Achievements you can show to your players (“Does anyone really care if I killed 100 guys using a particular weapon?”). So, here's a quick rundown of what The Lost and Damned can offer players.

Get Good Wood is worth 50 points and the player needs to hit at least 69 other racers while doing the Bike Races in the DLC. Easy Rider, the most rewarding at 100 points, is awarded for finishing the expansion content storyline, while other three Achievements have been confirmed, named Full Chat, The Lost Boy and One Percenter.

The Lost and Damned is the first of two DLC packs that Rockstar has committed to creating while GTA IV was still in the development process. It seems that this first expansion of the game will not add any new areas to Liberty City, only changing the set of eyes through which we experience it.

The protagonist of the pack will be a member of a rather violent biker gang with which Niko has a particularly bloody encounter. The storyline is not known at the moment, but we can probably expect something short and sweet including a lot of unwarranted destruction of property around Liberty City.

The Lost and Damned is set to be released on February 17 and the pack will likely cost 20 dollars or the equivalent in Microsoft make belief money... err, Points. No word on what the second DLC pack for GTA IV will contain but after the release date, Rockstar will probably provide more information.
