The rumors have been crushed

The gaming industry has a few famous franchises that brought innovations and took game design to a whole new level. One of them is the famous Grand Theft Auto series, developed by Rockstar, which won over a huge number of fans with its top-notch gameplay and intricate stories. With its latest iteration, GTA IV, the developers were acclaimed by critics for their hard work, and the game was awarded various prizes and trophies.

Now, a while after the release of the latest title, rumors have begun to circulate about the fact that Rockstar is already nearing the completion of another GTA title. This was reinforced by the fact that GTA: Vice City was released a year after GTA III. As such, 18 months between the two titles seemed like plenty of time for the editors of Game Informer to create a new game.

However, it seems that Rockstar has decided to address those rumors and has released an official press release in which it clearly denies the fact that another installment in the franchise will come out this year. The statement further says that the two episodes of DLC (Downloadable Content) will be the only things released for GTA IV this year, with plans of a Tokyo-based title going uncommented by the big gaming company.

The first DLC episode released by Rockstar, entitled The Lost and Damned, will be release in February, exclusively for the Xbox 360, and will shift the story from Niko Bellic to Johnny Klebitz, a biker in Liberty City's infamous The Lost gang. The second episode might appear before October 31 this year, but no other details are known about this new addition.

Although some of the GTA fans might be sad to hear such a thing, it is safe to say that the rumor was farfetched and that the Rockstar team will take its time with the next GTA-related project.
