In a promotion that will end on January 31

Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC Corporation and wireless carrier AT&T have put in place a promotion that offers buyers of an HTC Tilt2 the possibility to trade in their old smartphone for $100. For what it's worth, the deal seems pretty appealing. Not only can users purchase a Tilt2, none other than the popular Touch Pro2, but their will also have the possibility to get rid of that old handset that is starting to get covered in dust.

According to the two companies involved in the deal, the purchase of a Tilt2 is one of the main requirements of the promotion, and one can have it from any AT&T retail location or from the company's website. At the same time, they also say that one can only trade in a working smartphone that comes from RIM, Apple, a Palm device by Palm, or a Nokia smartphone, but they will also accept “any device running on the Windows Mobile or Android operating system.”

Other requirements are also included in the deal, and not all phones will qualify for the program, it seems. However, those interested in the deal will find all the necessary details on the promotion on this page, and they can check to see whether their device can be traded in here. AT&T and HTC will mail a check for $100 as soon as the eligible used smartphone arrives at the Trade-In Center.

One other thing that should be mentioned here is that those interested in the move should make sure that they describe the device correctly, otherwise they will get nothing. “Please pack up your old smartphone carefully. When we receive it, it must be in the same condition that you specified on the website or you will not get the $100* trade-in credit. Please read the trade-in terms and conditions carefully. We will not return non-qualifying smartphones,” the duo says.

This promotion is not new, as it started back in November, yet it is getting close to the finish line, as it is set to end on January 31. Those who would like to benefit from the offer still have a few days left to make the move, especially since they can “package and send in all of the [necessary] items postmarked by February 28, 2010.” Hit this link for more details.
