At $29.99 on a contract

It seems that AT&T decided that its PCD Quickfire 3G messaging device could be safely used by its customers, and a version of the handheld is back on the company's website available for purchase. And since the handset has been pulled down due to overheating problems, the company decided to have it on sale for a heating price, so those who would like to acquire it will find it available at $29.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the maker and after rebate.

Originally, the Quickfire was available at a contract price of $100, yet the company decided it was high time to lower that price. As many of you might remember, the sales of the handset were stopped back in February this year, as the device experienced some overheating problems while being charged.

Although the company stated then that the issue occurred only when the AC Charger adapter was inserted incorrectly in the phone, it seems that the problem was experienced by a wide number of customers, and the carrier decided to pull it off the shelves.

At the same time, the phone had some performance issues that annoyed some of AT&T's customers, and reports pointed towards it as being unresponsive and as having some difficulties with the touchscreen display. The mobile phone operator announced then that the sales of the handset were halted due to “quality issues,” and was expected to also come up with a new firmware version that would fix the device's problems.

For now, AT&T hasn't officially announced the return of Quickfire, and there are no details on what improvements the handset comes with. Hopefully, both the overheating problems and the performance issues have been resolved, and users will be able to fully enjoy the 3G messaging device, especially given its new price shown on the carrier's website.
