ADATA has just announced the introduction of its first low power DDR3 memory module with a capacity of 8GB that the company states it was specially designed to satisfy the needs of extreme gamers by providing “excellent system performance and overclocking capabilities.”

The memory was released in the ADATA XPG Gaming product line and can be distinguished form the rest of the company's products thanks to the “L” (most probably from low power) designation that is appended at the end of its name.

Contrary to standard DDR3 memory modules that require 1.5V for them to function, the ADATA DDR3L 1333G needs only 1.35V in order to operate properly.

At this voltage, the modules are screened by the company to run at 1333MHz with 9-9-9-24 latency timings. This screening process also ensures that, as long as enough volts are provided, the modules will be able to function 2000MHz.

Memory chip temperatures are kept in check by using a low-profile aluminum heatspreader.

The memory module is available both standalone as well as in a kit form, where two such DIMMs are paired together to be used in a dual-channel configuration.

“With the popularity of 64-bit operating systems, high-density memory is a prerequisite in many gamers’ minds,” said Alex Wu, ADATA DRAM product planning department project manager

“We are the first to launch DDR3L 1333G high-density 8GB memory modules, achieved in the XPG Gaming Series.

“This product adopts a 1.35 volt design, to offer gamers excellent stability and efficiency and also reduce waste heat and power consumption costs,” concluded the company's rep.

ADATA hasn't released any information regarding the price, or the launch date, of the XPG Gaming Series DDR3L 1333G memory. However, all XPG Gaming products are covered by a lifetime warranty.
