A&E has pulled the plug on David Hasselhoff’s reality show after only 2 episodes for poor ratings

It was supposed to be the reality show that would not only revive his television career but also redeem his public image, especially after a very troubled few years. Sadly, after just two episodes, A&E has canceled David Hasselhoff’s new reality show, “The Hasselhoffs.”

An official announcement hasn’t yet been made but Zap2It says it’s pending. At the same time, buzz in the blogosphere claims the network may simply let the show die without as much as making an announcement about its cancelation.

Despite the fact that high hopes were pinned on “The Hasselhoffs,” it failed to catch on with the public, with just a little over 700,000 people tuning in for the series premiere, which was below even the most pessimist expectations.

“A&E removed his freshman reality series, ‘The Hasselhoffs,’ from its schedule after just two episodes,” the aforementioned e-zine notes, citing ongoing reports.

“Vulture reports that while A&E is declining from going so far as to refer to the show as ‘canceled,’ it also won’t be airing any further episodes on television – so you can put two and two together,” Zap2It further writes.

As we also informed you on a previous occasion, the show was seen as a comeback vehicle for the controversial actor, while also allowing camera into his home would have enabled his fans to see what his life was really like.

Not even the promise of an answer to those many emergency hospitalizations, reportedly for alcohol poisoning, could get viewers to tune it, it would seem.

“‘The Hasselhoffs,’ a fly-on-the-wall look at Hasselhoff, his two daughters and their dog, aired two back-to-back episodes on Sunday, Dec. 5. The first half-hour episode averaged 718,000 viewers, with the second only managing to bring in 505,000 viewers. Ouch,” Zap2It writes.

Ouch is right. However, not all may be lost for the former “Baywatch” star, since he may still get a chance to redeem himself for the public and the cameras, as we were telling you just days ago.

Reports in the British media claim that Simon Cowell himself called The Hoff up to offer him his position as judge on Britain’s Got Talent when he leaves next year.
