Microsoft denies new Xbox hard drive development

Some Xbox 360 peripherals pictures were posted last week on a Korean gaming website, and these pictures caused quite a stir in the online gaming community.

The snapshots were taken of the Xbox Live Vision camera, the Xbox wireless receiver meant for using PC peripherals without cables, a 256 memory card and the star of the party-an Xbox 360 hard drive that had 100 GB written across. The news that the Xbox 360 will have a 100 GB hard drive circled the web fast and caused a lot of reactions from gamers hoping that the rumor is true.

Until today, Microsoft did not make any comment on this issue, but today, they decided to break the silence and made an official statement. They tried to be as explicit as possible and declared that they are not planning to launch a 100 GB hard drive on the market. They qualified the Korean pictures as misleading and they apologized for the confusion.

When questioned about how exactly the pictures were misleading, Microsoft representatives were reluctant in giving a response, according to GameSpot. But they still left a window of possibility open, as when asked if the company has plans for a larger Xbox hard drive in the future, the response was that there is "always a possibility".

Judge for yourself if the Xbox 360 will have a 100 GB hard, but certainly, Microsoft will improve their games console in order to counteract the release of Sony's PlayStation 3.
