In a recent interview granted by Microsoft EMEA, Chris Lewis, to UK games site Kikizo, he declared that his company is already developing the next console in the Xbox series.

He stated that preliminary works have already begun, as one can not sit back on laurels in the gaming business. Because consumers always want something new, and competitors are ready to give it to them, if you want to stay ahead of the game, you always have to work and to come up with something new.

Lewis added that the research and development practices of Microsoft's console division are no different than any other part of Microsoft and that is why, they do not have a moment's rest trying to develop more and more innovative features. He did not reveal specific information, on how the new console will be called or about what technology will the console use, but it's certain that we will see a new Microsoft console sometime in the near future.

The first Xbox games console was launched by Microsoft back in 2001, on November 15. Its successor, the Xbox 360, was released four years later in November 2005 and was developed in cooperation with IBM, ATI, SiS and Samsung. IBM was the company that developed the central processing unit for the 360- a CPU called Xenon- a custom triple-core PowerPC based design.
