The Good Design Awards are held in Japan every year. The awards are meant to establish which product has the best design, covering a wide range of industries.

The Japanese jury ruled that this year's award for the best design has to go to Microsoft's Xbox 360. Nintendo DS Lite, Game Boy Micro, Sony PlayStation 2 and the PSP already won this award over the past years.

Maybe the judges appreciated the fact that the 360 can be placed both vertically and horizontally and that the faceplate can be removed so that users can decorate the machine as they wish. The 360 is also most appreciated for its combination of ring design and wireless controller.

The 360 is the successor of the first game console developed by Microsoft, Xbox. The console was developed in collaboration with Samsung, IBM, SiS and ATI. The Xbox 360 was the first game console to have its launch simultaneously across three different regions.

Opposite to Sony's PlayStation, the 360 has many included goodies, like its wireless controller. It also supports the Xbox Live Marketplace platform, specially designed for it, where gamers can download game content and add- ons.
