About two years ago, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics unveiled to the world a new mobile operating system, called bada, which was loaded on a new series of handsets, dubbed 'Wave', now set to hit the 10 million sold units mark.

Of course, the sales are slow when compared to the company's Galaxy S II smartphones, but they still show that the platform is picking up pace, SammyHub notes.

The handset vendor has made available for purchase a number of seven devices running under the bada operating system, the first of which arrived on shelves in the first half of the last year, the Samsung Wave S8500.

This is an important milestone for the mobile phone maker, which has great hopes for the bada platform, and for the Wave devices that run under it.

In the October / November time frame, the handset vendor should have passed the 10 million sold units mark, and the latest handsets that the company has unveiled to the world with the bada platform on board will certainly help it in this direction.

The number will include sales of all smartphones that Samsung launched with its own mobile operating system on board, and the newest devices in the lineup might also be included on the list.

Among them, we can count the Samsung Wave 3, Wave M and Wave Y mobile phones, which were introduced to the world only several weeks ago with the new bada 2.0 platform flavor on board.

The new OS version will be pushed to previously released devices as well, the leading handset vendor announced, adding that it aimed at bringing it to devices in the coming months.

As for the new bada 2.0 OS-powered handsets, they are expected to hit the market the next several weeks too, and should become available in a wide variety of markets around the world.
