Those of you who own a Wave smartphone from Samsung and who would like to know when the new bada 2.0 operating system is released for their devices will be happy to learn that the software update is expected to be released on handsets

starting with the fourth quarter of this year.

Samsung themselves announced plans to make the move, and also confirmed some of the devices that will receive the software update.

“The 2.0 upgrade will be available from 4Q in different countries gradually,” a tweet from Samsung bada reads (via).

“We don't have specific date for each region yet. 2.0 will be available from 4Q (starting Europe) in different countries gradually,” another message continued.

They also announced that handsets like the Wave 525 and the Wave 723 are to taste the software update, the same as will happen with all Wave smartphones.

“I meant all wave devices but 2.0 features could be different depends on device specification such as CPU, memory size, etc,” another tweet from Samsung bada stated.

Of course, there's no telling whether the software update will arrive on devices starting with the next month, or whether it won't start to arrive on devices before December is here, but we can only hope that Samsung will manage to make it available sooner rather than later.

The new mobile operating system flavor brings along a nice range of enhancements when compared to previous releases, both on the user side, as well as when it comes to application development.

Wi-Fi Direct, and Near Field Communication (NFC) functionality are some of the improvements the new OS flavor comes along with, multi-tasking and voice recognition capabilities will also be included there, along with HTML5 support, and better Flash functions.

Samsung announced the new bada 2.0 OS back in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and has officially released it several weeks ago, when it also published the bada SDK 2.0, available for download from Softpedia as well, via this link.
