Palm Pre 2, the first smartphone that was launched on the market with the new webOS 2.0 operating system on board, is now available for purchase in the UK, priced at £399.00, SIM-free and unlocked.

HP already announced plans to make the handset available for purchase in the country starting today, and it kept its promise.

Of course, there might have been some issues with the availability of Pre 2 on the airwaves of various wireless carriers in the country, but the handset is now on sale, as is set to offer some very appealing features to all those who will purchase it.

“The Palm Pre 2 smartphone has been reengineered to do more of what you want to do—faster. Quickly switch between multiple open apps,” HP notes on its webiste.

“Simply start typing to begin an email or update your status. Tap a message notification while you’re playing a 3D game. With HP webOS 2.0, accomplishing more is effortless.”

The new webOS 2.0 operating system offers a nice series of enhancements over the previous versions, while the handset itself comes with improved hardware specs, though with a design similar with the one of its predecessor, the Palm Pre.

“Palm Pre 2 features a sleeker design that still gives you the perfect combination of a vivid touchscreen and slide-out keyboard. And now with a completely smooth glass display, Pre 2 is as durable as it is graceful,” the company notes on its website.

The specifications list of Pre 2 includes a touchscreen display, complemented by a sliding QWERTY, a 1GHz application processor inside, a 5-megapixel photos snapper, and enough internal memory to make most users out there happy.

As stated above, HP did announce officially that it would bring the Pre 2 to the market in the UK today, but it seems that it did not unveil that the handset would be released on the market in Germany too.

According to a recent article on pocketnow, the smartphone is available there for €499 free of contract, straight from HP's website, sporting the model number 1075EU-UMTS.
