Palm Pre 2, the first handset to arrive on shelves with the new webOS 2.0 operating system from Hewlett Packard

, is reportedly on its way to the UK market as soon as November 12th.

Several weeks ago, HP and Palm announced the launch of the new smartphone, already put on sale on the European market in France, and it appears that they are set to make it available in more markets in the near future.

The new mobile phone was launched in France via wireless carrier SFR, but it seems that it won't embrace a specific carrier's network in the UK as well.

According to a recent article on Pocket-lint, HP already confirmed that the Palm Pre 2 would arrive on the UK market SIM-free, and that it would be put on sale starting this Friday.

Palm's webOS handsets were previously available in the UK via wireless carrier O2.

The new webOS 2.0-based mobile phone comes to the market with a 1GHz application processor inside, expected to offer far better performance levels when compared to its predecessors.

Moreover, the mobile phone sports a touchscreen display complemented by a sliding QWERTY keyboard, just as its predecessor.

The specifications list of the new device also includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper, a streamlined design, and enough internal memory to fit the needs of any user.

Of course, the smartphone comes with 3G connectivity options, as well as with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, and with great multimedia functionality.

The new webOS 2.0 platform was also packed with great features, including enhanced support for social networking sites, email and messaging, and more.

Among its main capabilities, we can count True Multitasking; Just Type (so as to compose messages without having to open an app); or HP Synergy and Exhibition apps.

Not to mention that webOS 2.0 offers support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1, as well as apps like Skype, TextAssist, Quickoffice mobile suite and Facebook 2.0.

No info on Palm Pre 2' price tag for the UK market was unveiled for the time being.
