A few weeks ago, HP and Palm brought to the market a new handset and a new mobile operating system version, namely the Palm Pre2 and the webOS 2.0 OS, and it appears that they plan on launching a nice range of other handsets too.

The webOS 2.0 Doctor, the solution that can be used to restore the ROM image on a handset in case something went wrong with it, is reportedly including reference to a series of new, unannounced webOS 2.0 handsets.

We already learned that Palm might bring to shelves a number of no less than 5 new webOS-based smartphones, in addition to a tablet PC, but nothing was known specifically on these devices until now.

Among the said codenames, the guys over at PreCentral list: roadrunner, broadway, windsor, mantaray, and stingray.

According to the news site, the info on these codenames comes from WebOS Internals, and was found in the webOS Doctor from SFR for webOS 2.0.

From the codenames above, at least one sounds familiar to us, namely the roadrunner, which was leaked into the wild before Pre 2 was made official, and which was expected at that time to be a similar device with the newly launched one.

At the same time, we should not that the “stingray” codename also emerged into the wild before, when it was said to be a Motorola tablet PC headed to Verizon (which might have not changed, one should agree).

While other specific details on these webOS-based smartphones lack at the moment, we should expect for appealing devices to be pushed to the market from the handset vendor, that's for sure.

Some of the earlier reports on the future Palm mobile phones suggested that we're to see very appealing hardware brought to shelves, and the launch of Palm Pre 2 is a proof of that.

As these handsets near their release dates, more info should become available soon, so check on this space again to learn more on them.
