Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has just started shipping its new flagship smartphone, the Nokia N8, the first device it unveiled with the new Symbian^3 operating system on board, and some people already started to come up with various tweaks and hacks for the handset. One of the selling points of the new device is its 12-megapixel photo snapper, and the aforementioned tweaks are aimed exactly at the phone's high-end camera.

Cellphone modder hyperX is the one who announced the development of these hacks that would make the smartphone to offer better picture and video capabilities to its users.

One of these tweaks is meant to enable 720p30 video recording capabilities, a small improvement over the 720p25 video capture feature the Nokia N8 includes by default.

The availability of this enhancement is demonstrated in the video below, where one can also see Nokia N8 being capable of continuous autofocus.

At the same time, we should mention another tweak, one that supposedly enhances Nokia N8's capability to take photos.

Through this hack, the handset would be capable to take nearly uncompressed images, demonstrated through the availability of a 11MB photo taken with the handset's camera (by default, the device saves photos of around 2MB, as Engadget notes).

One thing that is certain here is that the tweaks seem to be pretty impressive, though it remains to be seen how exactly they would enhance the user experience when compared to what the Nokia N8 can offer at the moment.

For those who missed the latest news on the high-end mobile phone, we should say that the device started shipping to end-users at the end of the last month, and that some of those who pre-ordered it already received their units.

Today, Nokia announced that the N8 would land in the UK on October 15th via its website, while available on shelves at various retaileds on October 22nd.

Mobile phone users in the United States should get their Nokia N8 share sometime in late October, the handset vendor notes on its US online store.
