It seems that the Cupcake update for the Android-based mobile phone will not come to G1 users in April after all. The highly anticipated update for Google's mobile operating system has been rumored a few times before to be heading towards users, and the latest report from Pocket-lint unveiled a few days ago that Cupcake would come as soon as April.

Yet it seems that the Android platform will not receive its update next month, at least this is what Erica Gordon, a spokesperson for T-Mobile USA, is reported to have said to Betanews. According to the site, the carrier's official stated that said April update for the operating system was nothing but a rumor.

On the other hand, it seems that she only talked on behalf of T-Mobile US, and didn't deny the April time frame for the update. Erica Gordon, reports Betanews, said that she was not aware of the fact that T-Mobile International was preparing to release an update in April.

At the same time, we should also note the fact that T-Mobile released a previous update for Android in different time frames and countries, which might point towards the fact that some of the G1 users out there could see the Cupcake on their handsets after all. Back in February, the RC33 update was released to users in the US, while those living in Germany got it at the beginning of March under the name of RC9.

The upcoming update is expected to bring a wide range of functionalities to the Android platform, including video recording, voice search, Google Latitude, stereo Bluetooth, or a better online keyboard. These new features should become available both for G1 device users as well as for those who will acquire future Android-based handsets.

I don't know about what t-mob usa is doing about cupcake. Just because a UK site say cupcake is comming out doesn't mean the US will get it. I'm not downing t-mob just tryng to be real about it someone hears the word about a new phone for vodefone and automatically thinks the G1's getting it. I won't hold my breath on cupcake but if it comes then I will be happy. Just get us a flash player they have one working just adobe won't release it battery life will suffer no matter what we're talking about a phone with some computer tech thrown in not a full blown portable computer. The battery itself is not designed to handle that type of load. Just buy some extra batterys and be done with it or only surf flash while charging either way just release it to shut the idiots up.

And one more thing I congratulate google on creating an os that is so hard to brick it takes a true idiot to do so unlike other os's on smartphones I've rooted my phone broke it recovered it and took the root back off and brought it back to rc33 stock with no problems at all. Thank you google for this you get a lot of flack but deserve none since in the few months you've been out you've had more updates than most companies do in 6 years and brought paid apps to the masses before you intended to. Again thank you for all your hard work cause the haters won't give you that.

@ rigamrts, google aint t-mo and t-mob sucks. there is not one g1 owner i know of, myself included, who has ever had a bad word to say about google. if google offered cell servc, u can bet your assests i would dump t-mob in less than a heartbeat.
which brings us to the vaporware called cupcake. if i dont get stereo bt soon, im gunna junk this phone. flash, ehh, whatever. i block flash on my desktops, no reason i need it on my phone either. the laundry list of other promises is nice, but w/o stereo bt it is all just fluff.
