Logitec definitely hasn't been limiting itself to just one small area of the IT consumer base, as evident from its line of storage devices, among other things, with a new, external solution now out.

While, at one point, the storage industry was more or less defined by the hard drive and the disk (floppy and compact) format, things are very different today.

There are now such things as memory cards, flash drives, SSDs and more sorts of disks, although the “old timer” HDD could be said to have just evolved.

Indeed, instead of being limited to just the form encountered on the inside of desktops, or laptops, there are two sorts of external solutions as well.

More specifically, external HDDs can be large and not meant to be carried, more like desktop companions, as well as more compact.

In other words, there are both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch external hard drive units, the former sort being the category that the Logitec LHD-ENU3W belongs to.

Basically, this is the company's newest storage unit, measuring 35 x 183 x 120 mm and weighing 850 grams.

It can be placed on any surface, either vertically or horizontally, and can actually be said to be a Western Digital Caviar Green model inside a special case, colored black.

That said, being from the Green series, power consumption should be low, even when working at the speeds allowed by the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed standard.

For those that want additional number, three capacity options exist, those being 1.5 TB, 2 TB and 3 TB, with prices of $110, $152 and $303. A one year-long warranty is offered for each of the trio.

Needless to say, competitiveness will ensue when the above face off against offers from Buffalo, Samsung. Toshiba and all other external and/or portable USB 3.0 units unveiled so far.
