For releasing short films for music videos for “Paparazzi” and “Telephone,” Lady Gaga has set a precedent for herself, one that she will have to top with the official music video for “Alejandro.” Clearly one of the most anticipated releases at the moment, fans can get a first taste of the video by checking out the preview the singer introduced on CNN’s Larry King, as MTV can confirm.

Ever since March this year, when the controversy around “Telephone” continued to rage on, Gaga announced she’d started working on a new music video. As director, she enlisted famed fashion photographer Steven Klein, who’s worked with Madonna on a D&G campaign for sunglasses and handled a Brangelina photoshoot for W magazine. Judging on the 19-second teaser, Klein’s hand is all over the video: shot in black and white, it brings to mind Madonna references, though it’s a bit more aggressive and blunt.

“The clip depicts Gaga’s trademark theatrical gloss. It appears to be all in black-and-white, with Gaga and her dancers doing variations on a sharp military march throughout. From what little we saw, it seemed reminiscent of Madonna’s ‘Vogue’ video, but where Madonna’s movements were soft, fluid and more feminine, in Gaga’s ‘Alejandro,’ the style is more cutting, masculine and militant,” MTV says of the preview Gaga personally introduced on Larry King.

Speaking of the signification of the video, Gaga says she envisioned it as a tribute. “It is a celebration of my love and appreciation for the gay community, my admiration of their bravery, their love for one another and their courage in their relationships. I can speak for myself in that my admiration comes from an incredibly steadfast and joyful courage and bravery they have for one another and their community. To […] live openly in this society requires tremendous strength. ... I admire it and envy it in some ways. It’s something that, as a woman, I don’t always wholeheartedly possess,” the singer explains.

In the same interview with Larry King, Gaga reveals that her next album will not be out this Christmas as initially estimated, but sometime next year, because she felt it needed more time before it came out. In the meantime, fans have other things to look forward to, like the release of the music video for “Alejandro.” Here is the teaser for it, but *be advised that certain discretion is recommended when viewing it.
